Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now just £4 million away from signing Matheus Franca from Flamengo in the January transfer window, according to 90min.
Newcastle have bid for Matheus Franca
The report has claimed that Newcastle are keen on bringing Franca to St. James’ Park in the middle of the season.
The Premier League club have made a bid of £14 million for the 18-year-old attacking midfielder.
The offer has been made via intermediaries.
Flamengo have turned it down.
According to the report, the Brazilian club want £18 million in transfer fees for Franca, who has a release clause of £75 million in his contract.
So, Newcastle could be able to sign Franca if they pay £4 million more than what they are willing to offer now.
90min have reported that Lyon and Real Madrid are also keen on the 18-year-old.

What should Newcastle do?
In our view, Newcastle United should pay the £18 million needed to sign Matheus Franca from Flamengo in the January transfer window.
The Magpies are already ready to pay £14 million, so they should not hesitate to spend a little bit more for the attacking midfielder.
That Real Madrid and Lyon are interested in Franca shows how good he is and how highly he is rated in the footballing community.
