FC Barcelona are now reportedly open to selling Raphinha this summer if the La Liga side can break even on their initial investment on the Brazilian winger, with Newcastle United keen on signing the attacker.

According to El Desmarque, the Catalan giants are warming to the idea of selling the former Leeds United star just one year after signing Raphinha for €55m (£50m), with Xavi Hernandez not sold on the forward’s long-term future at Barcelona.

And as per the report, Newcastle are interested in signing Raphinha, an avenue that Barca could be willing to explore if the Magpies are willing to offer the Catalan giants the same fee Xavi and his team paid to bring the South American to the Camp Nou last year.

Barcelona beat out the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Raphinha last summer, and whilst the winger has impressed since the turn of the year, the European giants’ financial situation means that any potential sale could be huge in the long term for the club.

Moreover, with Newcastle one of the richest clubs in world football and willing to spend big this summer on new signings, Raphinha could be a tempting option for Eddie Howe’s side, especially with Barcelona now setting a £50m transfer fee on the former Premier League star.

Indeed, Newcastle are looking primed to open the chequebook in the upcoming transfer market to add some much-needed depth to the squad ahead of a potential return to Europe, and given Raphinha’s record in England during his two seasons at Leeds, it makes sense why the Magpies would now want to sign the Brazilian.

Newcastle are set to completely revamp the squad this summer, with Howe ready to flesh out the team with some huge signings, and Raphinha could be perfect with Barcelona already open to selling the winger, especially at an asking price of just £50m.

As we know, Raphinha was incredible in the Premier League during his time with Leeds. And if Newcastle are to take the leap to that next level, signing players such as the Brazilian international will be huge in the Magpies becoming a force in England, with Barcelona’s demands more than acceptable.
