AC Milan are already now moving to reinvest the money raised from Sandro Tonali’s transfer to Newcastle United to rival Eddie Howe for Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.
That is according to TuttoMercatoWEB, which reports that Tonali leaving San Siro has freed the Serie A side to spend. So, AC Milan have opened direct talks over a move to take Pulisic to Italy. He is highly likely to leave Chelsea as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s summer rebuild.
Tonali is on course to sign for Newcastle with his transfer from AC Milan effectively deemed a done deal. So, San Siro chiefs have turned their attention to potential incomings and have made Pulisic a prime target. His place on the Rossoneri’s shopping list is rapidly on the rise.

Newcastle are set to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan
It is surely a matter of time before Tonali arrives at St James’ Park after his agent, Giuseppe Riso, confirmed to Sky Italia that AC Milan and Newcastle have an agreement for his €80m (£69m) transfer. The move will include potential add-ons, as well as a future sell-on clause.
Tonali has also agreed to sign a six-year contract on Tyneside worth €8m-a-year (£132.5k-a-week). The midfielder can earn an extra €2m-a-year (£1.7m) in bonuses, as well. AC Milan and Newcastle are now finalising the final details of the terms for Tonali’s imminent transfer.

AC Milan now hold direct talks over Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic
AC Milan are wasting no time, though, as San Siro chiefs are already moving to use the fee from Tonali’s transfer to Newcastle to sign Pulisic from Chelsea. The Rossoneri are eager to convince the American of a move to Italy. His career is effectively over in west London now.
Pulisic seemingly accepts his time at Stamford Bridge has come to an end, too. The Athletic reported earlier in June that Pulisic wants to leave Chelsea and is willing to take a wage cut. The winger was unhappy with his lack of chances during 2022/23 and he may go for £20m.
Chelsea’s price tag can easily tempt Newcastle to advance their interest in Pulisic’s transfer. 90min reported this February that the 24-year-old features on Howe’s shortlist. Dean Jones also cited Newcastle’s interest in Chelsea’s Pulisic, who they could now help AC Milan sign.
Olivier Giroud has also already backed the transfer of Pulisic to AC Milan. France’s all-time top goalscorer told CBS Sports, via Sport Mediaset, in May: “He’s a big name in Europe. So, he would help us. He is that kind of player with great skills [and] with great talent.”
