Newcastle United are preparing for a season outside of a European competition this summer with Eddie Howe’s side hoping to bounce back next season.
However, because the Geordie side have not achieved European football this season, it appears that the future of their key men have been brought into question.
Here is today’s latest news from St James’ Park.

Bruno Guimaraes
One of the key outgoings for Newcastle United this summer could well be Bruno Guimaraes. Since moving to the club in 2022 from French side Lyon, Guimaraes has been the key signing to turn the club’s fortunes.
However, after two and a half years at Newcastle, his time at the club could be coming to an end. HITC have reported that Newcastle are becoming increasingly concerned that the Brazilian’s £100 million release clause will be triggered this summer.
Manchester City are set to step up their interest in the midfielder, particularly after Lucas Paqueta, who HITC have reported was the club’s previous top target, was charged by the Football Association after an alleged breach of betting rules. Arsenal are also interested but will not pay the nine figure release clause.
Paris Saint-Germain could be tempted to trigger that clause as the French giants have been keen on the 26-year-old for a long time.
Alexander Isak
In better news for the club, it appears that Swedish forward Alexander Isak has stated he is happy at St James’ Park, in what is a massive boost for fans of Newcastle.
With 21 goals in the Premier League last season, Isak has unsurprisingly had admirers with HITC reporting that Arsenal had him on the list of targets for the centre-forward role.
In an interview with FotbolSkanalen, the striker said how happy he was in the North of England and would not seek a transfer away from the club this summer.
James Trafford
A surprise name begins the list of incomings with a report from The Athletic stating that Newcastle are keen on Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, despite the Clarets conceding 78 goals last season.
Trafford moved to Lancashire from City with a big reputation but he struggled under Vincent Kompany. A new goalkeeper seems high on the agenda for Howe’s team with HITC previously reporting that Aaron Ramsdale is a key target.
The report states that Newcastle are likely to follow up their interest with a bid, the Geordie club are considering going for either a more inexperienced option to battle it out with Nick Pope, or an experienced backup.
Crysencio Summerville
That same report from The Athletic claims that Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has featured in recruitment discussions as the club look for a new right-sided forward.
HITC have reported that Jarrod Bowen and Michael Olise are also forward options who the club are considering but Summerville is the latest name to be linked.
With the Yorkshire club missing out on promotion back to the Premier League, Summerville could be a target for a host of top sides. With 19 goals and nine assists, Summerville was superb last season and a move to Newcastle could be on the cards.
Ramon Sosa
The last name on this list is Tallares winger Ramon Sosa, who has been heavily linked with a move to SL Benfica. A report from Portuguese outlet O Jogo has linked the Geordie side with a move.
The 24-year-old winger currently has a release clause in his contract which, according to the report, is believed to be around £15 million.
Sosa has seven goals and six assists this season but the winger has recently changed agents and now shares representation with Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi, both of whom are at Benfica which could be a big boost for the Portuguese giants.
Newcastle have reportedly entered the race for the Paraguayan winger, along with Wolves.
