Newcastle United have brought former Sunderland talent Jay Turner-Cooke into their first-team training plans under Graeme Jones.
That’s according to The Chronicle, who claim that Turner-Cooke has impressed so much for the Under-23’s that he is training with the senior players.
Turner-Cooke scored for Newcastle against Sunderland Under-23’s earlier this month, with Jones seemingly very impressed.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Turner-Cooke is shining this season.
In just 11 games across Under-18, Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy games, Turner-Cooke has five goals in 11 games for Newcastle.
It’s no huge surprise then that Newcastle coaches are impressed enough to give Turner-Cooke a chance with Premier League players.
Turner-Cooke could be a big success for Newcastle
To be training with Premier League players at the age of 17 is a big step for Turner-Cooke.

The teenager joined Newcastle from bitter rivals Sunderland in January of this year and seems to be making huge strides.
What’s especially interesting is that former Sunderland youth coach Elliott Dickman has joined Newcastle as a development coach.
Dickman may well know Turner-Cooke from Sunderland, and reuniting at Newcastle could aid his development.
Newcastle need to bring through local talent after years of struggling in that area, and Turner-Cooke could prove to be a big success after trading red and white for black and white.
