Newcastle United are considering a shock move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, with Tottenham Hotspur also interested.

That’s according to talkSPORT, who claim that Everton are ready to listen to offers for Pickford at the end of the season.

Everton need to rebuild their squad this summer but appear to have financial problems that could make signings a problem.

Pickford is therefore a candidate to be sacrificed in search of funds for Frank Lampard to mould the Everton squad.

Pickford would also fancy leaving if Everton don’t avoid relegation. The World Cup is just around the corner and Pickford can’t afford to be playing in the Championship.

Tottenham are keen on Pickford, a rumour that has been swirling ever since Antonio Conte took the job in November.

Pickford is unlikely to want to sit behind Hugo Lloris at Tottenham so a move to North London may be a risk.

There is now another option though and it’s one Pickford can’t have expected; Newcastle United.

It’s stated that Newcastle are tracking Pickford ahead of a possible move which would surely divide opinion on Tyneside.

Pickford, 28, came through the Sunderland ranks and grew up supporting the Black Cats.

Every time Newcastle face Everton, Magpies fans are always chanting at Pickford and attempting to unnerve him.

Pickford has previously admitted that the ‘abuse’ go to him earlier in his career but he tries to block it out now.

Would Pickford really want to play for Newcastle? As a Sunderland fan it will feel like a betrayal for Pickford to join the Magpies.

You have to wonder whether Newcastle would really want to sign Pickford too, given that fans may not really be on-side with his arrival.

It’s hard to see Pickford joining Newcastle or Tottenham this summer for very different reasons, but you just never know.
