Jose Enrique has urged his old side Newcastle to elbow Tottenham side and land Christian Eriksen on a free transfer from Brentford in the summer. Eriksen is available on a free and both Newcastle and Spurs are interested.

Eriksen, 30, has returned from near death during Euro 2020 when he collapsed in Copenhagen – to return and shine in the Premier League. He scored in a 4-1 win at Chelsea for Brentford, his first goal since the incident.

90Min report that West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham are all interested in signing Eriksen this summer – with the Dane proving he is back to his best, but available on a free. Brentford handed him a contract until the summer.

It might be that Eriksen feels he has a debt to pay Brentford in offering him a way back in, but the lure of a bigger Premier League club is also tempting. Enrique has urged Eriksen to pick Newcastle, over Spurs and West Ham.

Where next for Eriksen – Brentford, Newcastle, West Ham or Spurs?

A reunion not only with Tottenham, but also Antonio Conte – the duo combined to win Serie A with Inter – would be stunning. Conte got the best out of Eriksen and so did Tottenham. Does he fit in now? Time will tell.

At Newcastle, Eriksen would be a solid addition but he would prefer to play in a side in Europe – or at least pushing for it. West Ham are one of Tottenham’s rivals. It is unlikely he would put his Spurs allegiance aside.

So, it seems as if Eriksen has two choices. Stay at Brentford and show loyalty to the side that gave him a chance and a route back in – or set up a stunning return to Spurs.
