Newcastle United have reportedly joined the likes of Liverpool and Everton in the race to sign Ajax superstar Mohammed Kudus, who was one of the stars of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old talent is now on Newcastle’s radar as Kudus looks set to earn a major move from Amsterdam in the January transfer window, with the attacking midfielder making a name for himself this winter out in Qatar.

Kudus bagged a brace in a 3-2 win against South Korea that has seen the Ghana international’s stock raise considerably, with the Sun reporting that Ajax are open to selling the youngster for £40m, a transfer fee that Newcastle could easily afford next month.

Lauded as ‘a machine’ by Ghana teammate Inaki Williams, big things are expected from Kudus in the years to come, and Newcastle’s interest in signing the youngster could now result in Eddie Howe landing the African wonderkid in the coming weeks.

Newcastle are expected to add to their squad in January as the Magpies look set to build from their current third-place standing in the Premier League, and Kudus himself could be open to joining the Toon given how exciting the future looks for the northeast side.

Indeed, whilst interest from Frank Lampard’s Everton and Liverpool could cause Newcastle some worries, PIF’s wealth could make the Magpies one of the favourites to land Kudus in January, with the signing itself one that would be quite the statement.

Kudus is one of the most exciting talents coming out of Europe’s non-top five leagues this season, and for Newcastle, the attacker has the potential to become a superstar signing if the Magpies can beat out Everton and Liverpool for the youngster’s signature.

After all, Newcastle have done exceptionally in the transfer market under the PIF regime in signing young players, and Kudus could be the most exciting name yet to move to St. James Park if Howe and his team can strike up a deal in the coming weeks.
