Newcastle United are set drop their summer signing at Swansea, according to reports.

Alan Pardew will not keep his faith in Remy Cabella at Swansea City later today, according to reports.

Both the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror are leading with stories that suggest Newcastle will drop Cabella for their trip to Wales, after an indifferent start to the season from their French summer signing.

The move could allow the Magpies to play with two strikers up top, with Papiss Cisse, Adam Armstrong and Ayoze Perez possible options for Pardew to turn to.

The reports stem from quotes made in Pardew’s pre-match press conference, in which he said:

“It’s important we step up to the plate. We need to lean on the experienced players.

“This is a much younger squad than that. We haven’t got time to wait for players to come through. We need that to happen now.

“Remy Cabella has got to start performing now. Our younger players like Sammy and Dummett have got to deliver, we are not hanging about any more. You have to deliver now.”

As Opta stats show, Cabella has been Newcastle’s most creative outlet, creating 17 chances. The only problem is that none of those chances have actually led to a goal.

And the 24-year-old is a big part of the problem as far as the Magpies’ profligacy is concerned, having taken 11 shots and not scored from any of them.
