Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United reportedly believe that they could sign Arsenal target Raphinha from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle think they could sign Arsenal target Raphinha

Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Newcastle are keen on signing former Leeds United winger Raphinha from Barcelona.

La Liga club Barcelona are reportedly willing to cash in on the winger to facilitate a move for Lionel Messi in the summer of 2023.

Jones has reported that “with a Champions League place now firmly within reach a good source told GiveMeSport such a move is ‘not impossible’ for the Toon”.

Newcastle, though, are not the only club from England who are keen on securing the services of the Brazil international winger.

AS have reported that Tottenham are interested in the 26-year-old.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Arsenal and Newcastle are keen on the Brazilian star.

Mundo Deportivo reported in January that Arsenal wanted to sign the winger in the middle of the season.

However, the winger decided to turn down the chance to move to the Gunners, just like he did last summer.

HITC Verdict: Big coup for Newcastle

In our view, if Newcastle United are able to sign Raphinha from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, then it would be a big coup for the Magpies.

The Brazilian is one of the best wingers around, and he played at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

And, according to Barcelona head coach Xavi, he is “extraordinary”.

The Barcelona no. 22 has made 19 starts and 10 substitute appearances in La Liga this season.

Raphinha has scored six goals and given five assists in those games.
