According to GiveMeSport, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are also looking at.

The report published today has claimed that Newcastle have identified Diaby as an alternative to Leicester City and England international playmaker James Maddison.

The Magpies reportedly feel that Diaby ‘might be becoming fidgety at Bayer’ and will continue to keep tabs on the France international.

Interestingly, Arsenal have also been linked with the Bayer winger.

Earlier this month, 90min reported that Arsenal want to sign Diaby and have held internal talks about making a move for him in the January transfer window.

The Athletic reported in October 2022 that Diaby is still a ‘dream signing’ for Eddie Howe’s side

Newcastle United or Arsenal for Moussa Diaby?

In our view, Moussa Diaby will be more attracted to Arsenal than to Newcastle United if he is to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are challenging for the Premier League title this season, and the North London club should at least end up in the UEFA Champions League.

Yes, Newcastle are doing well too, but if Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea step up their game in the second half of the season, then Eddie Howe’s side may not end up in the Premier League top four.
