Newcastle United are reportedly hoping to snap up Nicolai Jorgensen from Feyenoord.

Newcastle United’s search for a new striker continues, as Sky Sports report that the Magpies have failed with a bid to bring in Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen.
Rafael Benitez’s men sit one point clear of the Premier League relegation zone after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City, and reinforcements are needed.
Benitez has only been able to bring in one new signing so far, taking Chelsea talent Kenedy on loan on Tuesday, but it’s imperative that the Magpies find a new striker having seen Joselu and Dwight Gayle struggle to score consistently.

With one bid rejected, Newcastle are now understood to be prepared to break their transfer record for Feyenoord hitman Nicolai Jorgensen, with a deal potentially worth around £20million being pursued.
Jorgensen, 27, hit 21 goals in 32 games last season to fire Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title, and with nine goals in 18 games this season, the Dane continues to impress in Rotterdam.
A move to Newcastle would give him an eerily similar career to Jon Dahl Tomasson, in terms of turning out for Newcastle, Feyenoord and the Danish national team – though he would hope for more success than Tomasson at Newcastle, given that he scored just four times in 35 games.

In fact, the pair are somewhat close, given that Jorgensen told NOS that he spoke to Tomasson before deciding to join Feyenoord from Copenhagen in 2016, taking his advice on a move to Rotterdam.
After Feyenoord’s Eredivisie title win, Tomasson told De Telegraaf that Feyenoord simply couldn’t have claimed top spot without Jorgensen’s quality, highlighting just how important the striker was to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.
Jorgensen would be able to call upon his compatriot again over a move to Newcastle, and whilst Tomasson may not have too many great things to say about his time on Tyneside, his comments about the striker’s ability should excite Newcastle fans as the club press ahead with a move.
