Newcastle United are one of the Premier League sides reportedly interested in signing Dwight McNeil this summer.

With Rafa Benitez’s future still up in the air, this summer looks set to be a pivotal one for Newcastle that could have major implications for the coming years at St James’ Park.
Tie Benitez down and make some exciting signings, and the Magpies fans may start to believe that the club is actually making substantial moves in the right direction. And it appears that Newcastle do have their eye on the kind of additions that will send out a real statement ahead of next season.
The Daily Star has reported that the Magpies have their eye on the likes of Ryan Fraser, David Brooks and Dwight McNeil. And while both Fraser and Brooks would be outstanding additions, McNeil is perhaps the most exciting target of the trio.
The 19-year-old has burst onto the scene at Burnley this season and done remarkably well, scoring three goals and contributing five assists in 17 league appearances. He went into the campaign having only made one substitute appearance in the top flight.

McNeil is already proving to be a fantastic crosser of the ball, and he gets fans out of their seats with his dribbling ability. He is also able to do the defensive work that leaves it not in the least bit surprising that Benitez is keen on a move.
Benitez has done incredibly well in the transfer market given that he has only just been allowed to break the club record fee which had previously stood since 2005.
But if Newcastle manage to sign McNeil, that deal would have the potential to prove to be the most exciting of Benitez’s tenure so far.
