Newcastle United’s takeover is on the verge of being announced after Jamie Reuben confirmed on twitter that the deal is now done.
The Magpies have been subject of interest from Saudi Arabian-led consortium for around 18 months now.
The deal wasn’t completed in the summer of 2020, but interest has been lingering ever since.
Major hurdles have been cleared this week, such as beIN Sports now being shown in Saudi Arabia. Premier League matches will now be broadcast legally there again.
That means the Premier League are finally approving Newcastle big takeover.
With The Mirror claiming that Newcastle will have £250million to spend just on new signings in this new regime, fans are understandably excited.
The Mike Ashley era is finally coming to an end, and Newcastle will not only have new owners, but very rich ones at that.
This could completely change Newcastle as a club and as a city, with visions of another Manchester City style rise.
The deal has now been confirmed on Twitter by Jamie Reuben, who is involved in the takeover.
Reuben claims the new owners will have a big job on their hands, but thanked fans for their support.
Mehrdad Ghodoussi, another man involved in the takeover, simply tweeted ‘#CANS’ – something Newcastle fans have been tweeting for hours as they celebrate the new era with a few drinks.
UPDATE: Newcastle have now confirmed the takeover on Twitter, officially signalling the end of the Ashley era.
