Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United still want to sign Scott McTominay from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
According to GiveMeSport, Newcastle United are among the clubs who are interested in signing Scott McTominay from Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Italian club AS Roma also want to secure the services of the 26-year-old midfielder, who is “underrated and undervalued”, according to former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood on talkSPORT in March 2023.
Newcastle recently completed the signing of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.
However, according to GiveMeSport, the Magpies still “retain some interest in McTominay”.
The report, though, has added that for Newcastle, “a central midfielder is not the priority at the moment as they focus on an attacker and a centre-back”.
Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell the 26-year-old for £25 million.
Newcastle United should bid for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay
We believe that Newcastle United should at least make an offer for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay in the summer transfer window.
Even if the Magpies are not willing to pay £25 million, they should put in an offer and then take it from there.

True, Newcastle have signed Tonali this summer, but there is still room for good midfielders in the squad.
It is hard to see Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick make much of an impact for Newcastle next season, especially in the UEFA Champions League.
Sean Longstaff has not always been at his best.
Joe Willock is a very good midfielder, and so is Bruno Guimaraes, but manager Eddie Howe could do with another player in the central midfield position.
After all, a big squad is only going to enhance Newcastle’s chances of finishing in the Premier League top four, not just for next season, but for years to come as well.
McTominay is 26 now and has his best years ahead of him.
The Scotland international has extensive experience in European competitions.
