Emil Krafth has told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen that he has “no idea” if he will be at Newcastle United next season, amid reports the Toon could sell him. The defender is set to enter the final year of his contract on Tyneside.
Krafth, 27, has started five of the last six Premier League games for Newcastle – though that is largely because of the injury suffered by England star Kieran Trippier. The injury is sidelined until May with a foot injury.

The 38-time Sweden international is one of seven players reported to be on the chopping block this summer – TeamTalk reporting that Krafth could go, along with the likes of Miguel Almiron, Jamal Lewis and Matt Ritchie.
With Trippier on side and more incomings expected in the summer, and his contract up in the summer of 2023 – Krafth’s future is in doubt. Asked about a move away, Krafth kept the door open, and has no idea if he will stay.
“No idea actually. I focus on being here and now. I have a contract with the club. Everything else that happens will happen, nothing I can influence. I have a contract. If something happens, I will have to take it,” Krafth said.
Krafth on Newcastle: Defender needs to leave Tyneside in summer
Krafth turns 28 in August and is approaching the peak years of his career. So, with that in mind, he needs to find a club where he is playing regular football. At Newcastle, he is back-up to Trippier and even Javi Manquillo.
Newcastle are unlikely to offer Krafth a new deal, and if Newcastle are to get some of the £5million they spent to buy him from Amiens, then he needs to go this summer. It suits all parties to sell Krafth in the coming months.
