Newcastle United fans need any glimmer of good news right now – and there could be some on the horizon.
The Magpies were hammered 3-0 away at Brighton and Hove Albion before the international break, turning in a truly dismal performance.
Many thought that would be the end of Steve Bruce, but he is somehow clinging onto his job at St James’ Park despite a precarious situation at the bottom of the table.
Bruce has been hampered by attacking injuries of late, with Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson all missing weeks of action.
One report from The Athletic last week suggested that striker Wilson could actually be back to face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend in a huge boost.
He picked up a hamstring injury against Southampton last month, which was initially described as ‘devastating’.

Now, Wilson has taken to Twitter to post seven words that will get fans excited – ‘can’t wait to get back out there’, accompanied by an hourglass emoji.
Wilson is clearly trying to ramp up his return, and Newcastle may well need his goals towards the end of the season as they battle to stay in the Premier League.
