Roberts was sent out on loan by Newcastle in January.

Newcastle United star Cal Roberts was asked during an Instagram Q&A who he believes is the best player he has ever played against – and he picked West Ham United star Jack Wilshere.
Roberts, 21, has enjoyed a successful campaign so far after breaking into Newcastle’s first team to play in the FA Cup where he scored against Blackburn in a 4-2 AET win.
The England Under-20 international has also starred for Newcastle’s reserve side this season, scoring 12 goals in 18 games. He has been used out wide, as well as in the number 10 role.
Asked who he believes is the best player he has played against, he chose 27-year-old Wilshere after facing the West Ham star during his time at Arsenal – way back in April 2016, when Wilshere turned out for the reserves against Newcastle and Roberts.

Newcastle suffered a 3-1 loss on the day, despite boasting players such as Curtis Good, Henri Saivet and Sylvain Marveaux alongside Roberts. Meanwhile, Arsenal had Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry.
Roberts has since gone on loan to League Two outfit Colchester United, where he has made two substitute appearances. He will be looking to break into the starting eleven before the end of the season.
