Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton tipped for England call-up so could these Brighton, Burnley and Newcastle United stars do the same?
Manager Gareth Southgate has been impressed with the Everton forward and views the 20-year-old as now being ahead of Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke – who were included in the last squad – in the pecking order.
So which other players could potentially make their Three Lions debut later this month?
Jamaal Lascelles
The Newcastle United fans think their captain is ready with their chants from the stands and Lascelles himself has admitted representing his country would be a dream come true.
“It would be great, but the only way I can get there is to put in consistent performances for Newcastle,” the 24-year-old told the Shields Gazette.
“It is every kid’s dream to play for England, of course, but I know I have no chance if I am not giving my absolute all to keep Newcastle in the Premier League.
“If I keep doing my job, though, I do think I have got a good chance.”
Glenn Murray
Only three English players have scored more Premier League goals than the Brighton and Hove Albion striker this season in Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Raheem Sterling – all shoo ins for Southgate’s squad.
Yet with his 13 strikes in all competitions the Sun claim that Murray could be in line for a surprise call-up ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
James Tarkowski
Another centre-back now and perhaps the most likely of the lot, as reported by the Telegraph, with Southgate spotted in the stands at Turf Moor when Burnley beat the Toffees last weekend.
Currently John Stones and Harry Maguire are the only certainties in the position for England so Tarkowski – and also Lascelles – have a great chance of breaking through.
