Newcastle are crying out for a creative spark in a bid to avoid Premier League relegation.

Newcastle United desperately need creativity if they are to avoid a relegation dog fight at the foot of the Premier League table towards the end of the season.

Despite bringing players such as Joselu, Jacob Murphy and securing a permanent deal for Christian Atsu in the summer, Rafa Benitez has watched his side find the back of the net just 10 times in 11 Premier League matches.

Although the Toon looked remarkably solid at the back, their goal return is simply not enough if they want to stay in the top tier of English football past this season.

With January approaching, Benitez is likely to be already planning his winter targets and scouring the Championship could see him pick up a number of bargain deals.

That should see the Spaniard’s attention turn towards Bristol City playmaker Bobby Reid, who has excelled for Lee Johnson’s Robins from the number 10 role this season.

Making 19 appearances in all competitions, the fleet-footed Reid has scored 10 goals as well as laying on as assist and it is that extra source of goals that Newcastle are crying out for at St. James’ Park.

Football website TeamTalk claim Newcastle would not be alone if they decided to pursue the 24-year-old, with Burnley, Brighton, Leicester and Middlesbrough all said to be keen in the former Plymouth Argyle midfielder.

But with his contract up at the end of the season, City are likely to want to cash in on Reid in January instead of losing him on a free and that should tempt Newcastle to try and convince Reid that the Toon is a better option than their rivals.

Adding his skill, eye for goal and invention in the final third will give Newcastle all the tools they need to secure Premier League safety for another season.
