According to The Coventry Telegraph, Newcastle United will make Adam Armstrong available for loan in the summer transfer window.

Armstrong was loan at Championship club Barnsley during the 2015-16 season, and scored six goals and provided four assists in 21 league starts.

The 20-year-old is developing well, but the striker is not at the stage yet to play regularly for Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle in the Premier League.

The England Under-20 international needs to play at a slightly lower league in order to develop his game, and moving to either Celtic or Rangers on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window would be a good idea.

Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers will be competing for the Scottish Premiership title next season, and playing for either of such massive clubs with a global fanbase is only going to make the youngster mature as a footballer.

Brendan Rodgers is a brilliant manager and has a good track record of working with youngsters. Armstrong would develop well under the former Liverpool boss and could get quite a bit of playing time, especially if the Bhoys manage to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League yet again.

Rangers are not at the level of Celtic yet, but the Gers are an ambitious club and have a competitive environment.

Armstrong could develop well under Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha, and playing in front of 50,000 or so fans at Ibrox regularly would give him valuable experience.
