Former club Hull City could be a good landing ground for Mohamed Diame after an uninspiring year at Newcastle United.

Mohamed Diame made only fitful contributions to Newcastle United’s promotion back to the Premier League in an underwhelming first season on Tyneside.
The midfielder had scored the only goal of the game in the play-off final for Hull City the year before, but Rafael Benitez saw little of that match-winning quality.

Diame netted just three Championship goals last term – although one, against Brighton and Hove Albion, was crucial – and Newcastle must be considering his future this summer.
Ayoze Perez ended the season ahead of Diame in an advanced midfield role, while Newcastle have reportedly – according to the Chronicle – bid for Tom Cairney in that position, too.
In the middle of the park, Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden were regulars and the Mirror have linked the Magpies with a move for James McCarthy.

Diame will have suitors in the second tier, though, and Hull – the side he left last summer – could be one of them.
The Tigers were desperate for Diame to stay, offering to better his wages, according to the Telegraph, and they may now be handed the chance to bring the powerful midfielder back to Humberside.
Although the former Senegal international would surely prefer top flight football, regular opportunities are unlikely to be forthcoming at St James’ Park. Hull might be a better option.
