Newcastle United should make a move for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga in the summer transfer window.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

According to Fanatik, the striker has been offered to Turkish club Fenerbahce through a mediator, and that the Premier League outfit want €15 million (£13.2m) for him.

It seems that Newcastle are open to the idea of parting company with Mitrovic two years after signing him from Anderlecht for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be £13 million when Steve McClaren was the head coach.

Much was expected of the 22-year-old Serbia international striker when he arrived at St. James’ Park, but things have not gone according to plan.

The youngster scored nine goals and created 30 chances in 34 Premier League appearances during the 2015-16 campaign; Mitrovic scored four goals and provided six assists in 25 Championship matches last season.

If Newcastle are ready to sell Mitrovic in the summer transfer window, then they should sign Britt Assombalonga from Nottingham Forest as his replacement.

The 24-year-old striker has had injury issues during his time at the City Ground, but when fit, he is one of the best strikers in the Championship.

As the following Opta Stats table shows, Assombalonga was better than Mitrovic last season in terms of scoring goals in the Championship.

If Newcastle part company with the Serbian, then they should use that money to fund a move for the Forest striker in the summer who can certainly step up and be a success in the Premier League.
