Armstrong has found form again at Blackburn, meaning both they and Premier League club Newcastle United should be keen for a longer term deal.

Until recently, Adam Armstrong’s promising Newcastle United career had looked to be faltering.
The England Under-20 international endured an indifferent loan spell at Barnsley in the Championship last season and followed it up with another at Bolton Wanderers in the first part of 2017-18.
Armstrong’s prolific League One campaign with Coventry City was quickly being forgotten.

But the Geordie striker was then given the opportunity to link up again with Tony Mowbray, his old Coventry manager, and he is thriving at Blackburn Rovers as they chase promotion in the third tier, scoring seven goals in eight starts.
With his loan set to expire at the end of the season, Newcastle must now decide what to do with Armstrong.
His struggles in the Championship suggest it is too soon to return to St James’ Park, but he has proven all he can in League One and so, should Blackburn go up, another spell at Ewood Park in a higher division seems like an obvious choice.

Mowbray clearly gets the best out of Armstrong, unlike his managers at Barnsley and Bolton who struggled to find room for the forward.
He has a set position in an exciting Blackburn attack and both clubs should be happy to give Armstrong the chance to show he is better than a very good League One player.
This is a player who was tipped for a future with Newcastle and England, so the North East club must make a decision this summer that gives him the best opportunity of fulfilling that potential.
