Newcastle United’s problems at left-back continue but could Stanley N’Soki be the answer?

Rafa Benitez has once again worked his magic to lead Newcastle United to a 13th place finish but his future seems to remain unclear ahead of the start of the summer transfer window.
Tying down Benitez has to be a priority for the Magpies but the Spaniard will only commit his future if club owner Mike Ashley backs him in the transfer window. Salomon Rondon’s future is still in the air but the biggest area that Newcastle should look to strengthen is at left-back.
Paul Dummett’s injury early in the season forced Benitez to use Matt Ritchie in that position where he excelled throughout the season. His performances were so impressive that he continued his role there even after the return of Dummett.
However, playing Ritchie in defence is a massive waste of his attacking talents and Newcastle should bring in an efficient left-back to take over the role next season. One player who could have a real impact there is PSG’s Stanley N’Soki.
The Magpies reportedly tabled a £10 million offer for the 20-year-old in the January transfer window but a move to Tyneside failed to materialise. Newcastle should reignite their interest in the French under-21 international and his arrival could potentially solve a number of problems next season.

N’Soki would easily slot in at left-back but the youngster is hugely versatile which would allow the manager to use him in a variety of positions. The 20-year-old is capable of playing in the heart of defence as well as in the number 6 role which would be of massive help for the Magpies who could be without Isaac Hayden next season.
The Frenchman has shown real promise in the limited game time that he has received with the Ligue 1 champions and he would only improve in the Premier League, especially under Benitez. Newcastle should have him high up in their summer shortlist and they should make it a point to sign him in the summer.
