Napoli tell Manchester City it will cost £4.5m to sign Pepe Reina, but should Newcastle look to sneak ahead for his signature?
Manchester City have had a £2.6m bid for Pepe Reina rejected by Napoli, according to the Mirror, as the expected departures of Claudio Bravo and Joe Hart draw closer.
Having already lost Willy Caballero to Chelsea this summer and Bravo and Hart deemed surplus to requirements, City want competition for new signing Ederson between the posts.

However, Reina’s current club are holding out for £4.5m for the goalkeeper – who has entered the final year of his current contract and despite being linked with a new deal by Football Italia, is yet to sign one.
With the Citizens and Napoli still some distance apart on price, Newcastle United should use the opportunity to swoop in and meet the Serie A side’s demands.
Reina has been strongly linked with a reunion with Magpies manager Rafa Benitez at St James’ Park by the Chronicle, among other publications, as the former Liverpool boss looks to sign a new stopper.
Talk of a new contract at the Stadio San Paolo and then interest from Newcastle’s Premier League rivals seem to knock them back, but with the valuation on the table and the promise of a number one spot, surely the North East team could seal the deal?
