Should Newcastle United take an interest in Samir Nasri, if his move to West Ham United falls through?

According to reports, West Ham United’s pursuit of Samir Nasri has hit the skids – and Newcastle United should capitalise.
It looked like Nasri was set to join West Ham on a free transfer after undergoing a medical with the club on Monday, but The Daily Mail claim that a move is in jeopardy over his £95,000-a-week wage demands.
Those figures are hardly peanuts – especially not to a club like Newcastle – but Rafael Benitez should try and bring him to St James’s Park nonetheless. It could be well worth it.
If Newcastle sign Nasri – who can’t play until January – on a short-term deal until the end of the season, he would set the Magpies back less than £3 million in wages.
It’s a significant sum of money, but it’s a drop in the water in comparison to the windfall United receive if they stay in the Premier League this season – and Nasri is certainly capable of helping Benitez’s side stay up.
This is a player with two Premier League winners medals after helping Manchester City win the title in 2012 and 2014, having also made the PFA Team of the Year in 2011 during his last season at Arsenal.
He might have something of an attitude, but Nasri, who turns 32 in June, still has plenty to offer any Premier League club and Benitez, the brilliant man-manager that he is, might be able to get the best out of him.
As far as talent goes, Nasri, who can also play as a number 10, could be Newcastle’s best winger since David Ginola and the Spanish manager needs to consider him.
