The former Chelsea man could be just what Newcastle United need as they return to the top flight.
According to recent report from the Sun, Liverpool are interested in signing Roma winger Mohamed Salah this summer, but their former manager Rafa Benitez would be wise to consider the Egyptian international for his current club Newcastle United.
The Magpies have a decision to make regarding Christian Atsu, and while the Chelsea loanee’s work rate is not in question, he has not exactly set pulses racing with his five goals and three assists in 35 appearances.
In contrast, Salah has scored 17 goals and set up 14 more in 38 games for Roma, with 13 of his strikes coming in Serie A.
In short, the 24-year-old is playing the best football of his career and if he feels he has unfinished business in England, Newcastle should throw their hat into the ring.
Benitez will need to considerably strengthen his squad in key areas this summer and Salah would add more creativity and goal-threat to a team over reliant on Dwight Gayle in their title-winning campaign.
Predominantly a right winger but also able to operate on the opposite flank, as a secondary striker or as a centre forward, Salah is a player Newcastle should at least see if they can tempt into a move to St. James’ Park.
Benitez has been canny in the transfer window before, and if he can beat Liverpool to the winger it would be another fine effort.
