Newcastle United may have completed a great piece of business in signing Federico Fernandez.

There is clearly a lot of frustrations around St James’ Park over their transfer activity in recent windows, but manager Rafael Benitez deserves immense credit for finding some great deals on limited funds along the way.
The Spanish boss may have done it again this summer, with defender Federico Fernandez making a bright start to life in the North East.
Newcastle completed a £6million (Sky Sports) deal for the centre-back before the close of the transfer window, something that now looks a total bargain in the current market.
The 29-year-old has looked assured and impressive so far in defence, despite suffering narrow defeats to Chelsea and Manchester City in the league.
He has become an instant leader in the backline, while he can be comfortable in a back four or back five.
The Argentina international looks like he will only get better too and to pick up someone of his quality for £6million is great business.

Newcastle fans may have been worried when they lost Florian Lejeune to a long-term injury at the start of the campaign, especially given his impressive form last season.
But they look to have found the ideal replacement in Fernandez, who has experience at the top level with former club Napoli and also impressed for Swansea City in English football.
He looks like a typical Benitez player and should become a quick favourite with supporters if he continues in the same way he’s started.
