Newcastle United attacker Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is set to be released by the Toon in the summer, according to the Sun, which could alert Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 22-year-old is in the final year of his contract at St. James’ Park but has been told his contract will not be renewed by Rafa Benitez’s side, despite waiting to hear back on his appeal over allegations regarding Peter Beardsley.
The London-born attacker has featured just twice for the Toon’s senior side since joining the club in the summer of 2016, but has failed to warrant a new deal.
His release could come as a huge transfer boost for Championship leaders Wolves, who were reportedly linked with a move for the forward back in the January transfer window.
Goal claimed that El-Mhanni is interesting three teams including Wolves, as well as Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Wolves are likely to add to their squad in the summer with Premier League promotion within touching distance, and El-Mhanni could be their first signing as he becomes surplus to requirements on Tyneside.
