According to Foot-Sur7, Newcastle United are keen on Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar but face heavy competition for his signature.
The talented Frenchman is seemingly set to move from Lyon this summer.
Newcastle are in the midst of a takeover involving a billionaire Saudi group. If the deal goes through, the Magpies could be set for an interesting summer.

Aouar is the type of signing to help push the Premier League club to the next level.
The 21-year-old has impressed for Lyon in the Champions League, prompting stunning praise from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in 2018.
“Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible. We talk a lot about Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.
The French top-flight has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 virus.
Aouar had made 23 league starts, scoring three goals and four assists. Moreover, he provided the assist in Lyon’s 1-0 win over Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League tie.
Newcastle should aim to buy Europe’s best youngsters and develop them.
It would represent a smart strategy to sign players with huge re-sale value. And Aouar’s £43 million asking price, as reported by Foot-Sur7, isn’t a crazy figure compared to some deals over the past 18 months.
Newcastle, however, face strong competition for his signature.
