The transfer rumours are coming thick and fast at Newcastle United, as expected.

Since Newcastle were taken over by Saudi Public Investment Fund last week, there’s been a flurry of speculation about who the new owners – with a fortune of £320 billion – could be signing.

There’s been one story about Mauro Icardi of Paris Saint-Germain being on the Magpies’ radar, along with the less-formidable James Tarkowski.

One of the more interesting stories has been about a player who actually rejected a move to Newcastle last January.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is also on the St James’s Park club’s shopping list.

Lingard had a superb loan spell at West Ham during the second half of last season and according to Sky Sports News at the time, he rejected the chance to join Steve Bruce’s side in favour of the Hammers.

But if they do come knocking again, the 28-year-old will do well to turn them down this time.

There’s just no doubt that the future in the North East is so very bright following the takeover announcement.

Newcastle are going to be building a project that’ll include some very big names over the coming years and surely Lingard would jump at that chance, especially considering he isn’t that active with the Red Devils right now.

The England international has managed only 45 minutes of Premier League football under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and if he continues to be overlooked come January, Lingard, who earns £110,000 per week, will be looking for the exit.
