The Ivorian is not yet a Newcastle United player despite undergoing a medical over the weekend.
According to a report from the Independent, Newcastle United are still waiting for the results of Seydou Doumbia’s medical.
The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international is currently owned by Italian side Roma – although he has recently been on loan at his former club CSKA Moscow.
A temporary switch to St James’ Park is now on the cards, however it seems Magpies fans will have to wait a while longer before confirmation of the deal.
Doumbia underwent his medical over the weekend and normally there is a quick turnaround with such things, but the Independent claims Newcastle are still waiting for the results and manager Steve McClaren will be hoping there are no last-minute glitches that prevent a deal from being done.
Newcastle are in need of additional fire-power and Doumbia would certainly offer that.
He has scored 11 goals in 21 matches this season and he has a career total of 163 goals in 276 matches; a great return and exactly what the relegation-threatened Magpies need right now.
