Newcastle United reportedly join the race for West Ham United and Arsenal target.
According to Score Nigeria, Newcastle United have thrown their ring in the hat to sign Henry Onyekuru.
The 20-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from a number of clubs in England after netting 24 goals for Belgian side KAS Eupen last term.
Sky Sports reported this week that West Ham United were leading the race for his signature, while The Mirror claimed that Arsenal were also keen after Arsene Wenger triggered his £6.8 million release clause with the Belgian outfit.
However, Score Nigeria claim that Newcastle are now in the mix, going on to suggest that the in-demand marksman will fly to the UK on Monday to speak to interested parties.
It remains to be seen which English club he will join, but all three could do with a new striker.
Newcastle need another option to Dwight Gayle, who reached the 20-goal mark in helping the Magpies win Premier League promotion last term but Rafael Benitez might want an upgrade in the event that the ex-Crystal Palace man cannot cut it at the top level.
Meanwhile, it is easy to understand Arsenal and West Ham’s reported interest, with both London clubs needing to improve their striking options.
The Gunners could do with alternatives to Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez, while Michail Antonio, a winger, ended up as West Ham’s leading goalscorer in the Premier League last term with nine goals – one more than Andre Ayew and two more than Andy Carroll.
