Newcastle United are reportedly one of seven clubs who have confirmed their interest in signing Gabri Veiga to Celta Vigo, with Arsenal one of the sides chasing the 20-year-old.
According to Atlantico, the race to sign the La Liga talent is hotting up, with numerous clubs coming forward to confirm their interest in signing Veiga this summer, including Newcastle, who are keen to beat the likes of Arsenal to the youngster’s signature.
Faro de Vigo recently reported that Arsenal are the attacking midfielder’s preferred destination should the Gunners activate Veiga’s £33m release clause, however, the north London side appear to not be one of the clubs who have confirmed their interest in signing the Celta star, unlike Newcastle.
The Magpies are ready to spend big this summer with a UEFA Champions League finish firmly in Eddie Howe’s sights, and landing world-class youngsters such as Veiga appears to be Newcastle’s next step under the PIF regime to take the club to the next level.

Indeed, the attacking midfielder could be an ideal signing for Newcastle, and with the Toon now confirming their interest in Veiga to Celta, a bid could soon be made to bring the 20-year-old to St. James Park, much to Arsenal’s dismay.
As we know, the Gunners are well in the race to sign Veiga, and with the midfielder an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s system, Arsenal losing out on the La Liga talisman to Newcastle will sting for the Basque manager, who could be the man to take the youngster’s game to a whole new level.
Newcastle beating Arsenal to Veiga will hurt for Arteta

Arteta’s signings for Arsenal over the last two years have transformed the Gunners from European contenders to now arguably the best club in England, and with Veiga firmly on the north London side’s radar, missing out on the Celta star to Newcastle will sting for the 41-year-old.
Midfield is an area that Arsenal look ready to future-proof this summer, and with Veiga one of the top talents in Europe, Arteta losing out on his man to a rival club in Newcastle could be a killer blow for the Gunners’ manager. who might have to rethink his strategy this summer.
