Newcastle United could now not spend on a right-sided attacker in the January transfer window due to Miguel Almiron’s incredible form this season, with the winger winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.

According to the Athletic, concerns to bring in a right winger are slowly dwindling with Almiron enjoying his best Premier League season to date after an explosive start to the campaign, with the 28-year-old arguably the in-form wide-forward in the entire division after scoring seven goals in the top-flight.

The winner of the Premier League Player of the Month award for October, Almiron’s form has been huge for Newcastle as the Paraguay international has led the Magpies to fourth in the standings. And now, the Toon could completely turn away from signing a right-winger in January.

With Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak set to return from injury after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Newcastle’s attacking depth is looking very healthy going into 2023. And Almiron’s form has added to the belief that the northeast side could finish in a European spot come May.

Indeed, with Almiron now in line for a new contract as reported by the Telegraph, extending the winger’s stay will be a decision will be well-appreciated by supporters, with the former Atlanta United star a fan favourite since his £20m move to the Premier League in 2019.

And with reports now out there that Newcastle might not even sign competition for Almiron, there will be a feeling from the South American attacker that he needs to take his form to another level ahead of the World Cup break this month.

Almiron will have to repay Newcastle with even better form in 2023

Almiron is enjoying easily his best spell of form with Newcastle since joining the club almost three years ago. And whilst this purple patch won’t last forever, there will be an expectation from the coaching staff and the supporters for the winger to maintain some level of goalscoring consistency in 2023.

After all, Almiron has proven he has the quality to be a quality attacker in the Premier League, and with the winger now showing everyone what he is capable of, the Paraguayan must now take his form with Newcastle a new level in the second half of the season.
