Stuart Findlay spent around seven years with Celtic before leaving last summer and subsequently joining Newcastle United.

Stuart Findlay has explained that he decided to leave Celtic last summer as he felt that his career was stagnating at Parkhead, and suggested that joining Newcastle was a no-brainer, the Shields Gazette reports.
The 21-year-old spent seven years on the books of the Scottish Premiership heavyweights, but failed to make a single appearance for the Hoops in any competition and instead spent much of his time out on loan.
After leaving the Bhoys in the summer, the defender moved to St James’ Park. And he suggested that he was starting to become concerned about his career before leaving Celtic and joining the Magpies.
“My time at Celtic was going a bit stale,” he said, as reported by the Shields Gazette.
“I wasn’t really getting anywhere and I was coming to a crossroads about what was going to be best for my career. It was obviously time to move on.

“As soon as I heard a team like Newcastle was interested, it was an absolute no-brainer. You’re going to jump at the chance to play at such an illustrious club with as great history and under such an impressive manager.
“Nobody I know would’ve knocked that back. I’m glad that I came.”
Findlay made his debut for Newcastle in their FA Cup third round tie with Birmingham City in January, and arguably gave a good account of himself in the 3-1 win.
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez
And he will be hoping that by continuing to impress in the under-23 side, he can make a statement to Rafa Benitez that he deserves more opportunities in the first-team.
However, with promotion to the Premier League looking likely, he may surely want to consider targeting a potential loan switch as his path to the senior side could arguably be a little bit more congested at the highest level.
