Italian outlet CM claim that Newcastle United are preparing a ‘super offer’ to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus in the January window – amid other reports that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool also want to sign the France midfielder.

Rabiot, 27, has been one of the best midfielders of the World Cup in Qatar. Starring in the opener with a goal and an assist against Australia, he has also impressed against Denmark and then in the last 16 during a win over Croatia.

His form at Juventus has been good, too. In his last six Serie A outings before the World Cup break, Rabiot had a hand in five goals – scoring two and laying on three assists. This week, he has shared that he wants to move to England.

Rabiot’s contract will expire in June. Clubs may pursue a deal to sign Rabiot on a free – or, on the cheap in January. A previous report from CM says Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are willing to meet his £166,000-a-week demands.

Rabiot’s preference will surely be a team playing in the Champions League. Something of which Liverpool and Chelsea offer. Chelsea may prefer Rabiot in the summer, with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante’s contracts expiring like Rabiot.

Liverpool brought Arthur in on loan from Rabiot’s Juventus but he has played only once and has an injury. His loan is likely to be cancelled. Arsenal do not boast Champions League football, but they sit at the top of the Premier League.

Newcastle have no European football to offer, but they sit in the top three – and have the cash reserves to be able to perhaps, go above their rivals in terms of finances. Will Rabiot be tempted by the Toon? Well, we will see in January.
