The Magpies lost 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers last time out, and were looking to get back to winning ways when they travelled down to West London to face Brentford.

Goalscorer Gayle celebrated his 20th goal of the season, and admitted that he ‘loved’ seeing fellow striker Murphy score the winning goal after a frustrating first season with the Magpies.
Defender Jamaal Lascelles suggested that Newcastle are back where they belong in terms of being top of the table, whilst Isaac Hayden praised his team-mates’ character, with Jamie Sterry commenting on returning to the squad having been named on the bench.
Finally, winger Christian Atsu – currently on international duty with Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon – sent a message to his team-mates, congratulating them on their win without him.
