Newcastle United picked up another victory, hitting three past Ipswich Town to remain top of the Championship.

Karl Darlow 7/10 – A quiet afternoon for the Newcastle goalkeeper. Darlow was rarely tested, with Ipswich only having two shots on target. Back-to-back clean sheets for the 26-year-old.

DeAndre Yedlin 7.5/10 – Yedlin replaced Vurnon Anita at right back, and showed exactly why it is so easy for Rafael Benitez to rotate, putting in a solid performance, using his pace fantastically.

Jamaal Lascelles 7.5/10 – No nonsense display from the Newcastle captain. Lascelles was dominant in the air on an afternoon where Ipswich’s attack was limited.

Ciaran Clark 7.5/10 – Like his partner, Clark had a relatively comfortable day at the office, and showed again why he is Benitez’s preferred partner for Lascelles.

Paul Dummett 7/10 – Steady performance from Dummett. The left back helped get Newcastle on their way in the first minute, providing the cross for Ayoze Perez’s opener.

Matt Ritchie 8/10 – Scorer of Newcastle’s third and best goal, bending the ball into the far corner with the outside of his left foot. Ritchie also set up Perez’s second, picking out the Spaniard in the box.

Jonjo Shelvey 7/10 – Nothing blockbuster from Shelvey, but it was another game in which he pulled the strings from centre midfield.

Jack Colback 7/10 – Industrious as ever. Colback was busy, getting in the faces of Ipswich, squeezing them when they had the ball and wrestling it back.

Yoan Gouffran 6.5/10 – The Frenchman was his usual hardworking self, but often wasted possession when in good positions. Gouffran also attempted the same dummy way too many times before he was replaced.

Ayoze Perez 9/10 – Is this the game where Perez’s season begins? While the physicality of the league was still a problem for the Spanish forward, he was much more influential and took both of his goals brilliantly, as well as providing a neat assist for Ritchie. Easily the best player on the pitch.

Dwight Gayle 6/10 – One of those games where nothing really fell for Newcastle’s in-form striker. Gayle did have a huge penalty appeal turned down, and the number nine linked up neatly with Perez at times.

SUBSTITUTES

Christian Atsu (Gouffran 75) 6/10 – Rarely got on the ball during his 15 minutes, and did not cause the Ipswich defence too many problems.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Gayle 79) N/A – The Serbian was not on long enough to make an impact.

Isaac Hayden (Shelvey 83) N/A – Hayden was not on long enough to make an impact.
