Newcastle United want to sign Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Conor Gallagher isn’t short of interest this summer with Newcastle United now keen on a loan deal for the Chelsea man.
That is according to The Telegraph, who claim that Newcastle are keen to explore the loan market for new signings.
The Magpies announced the signing of Sandro Tonali earlier today but still want new signings.
It’s suggested that Newcastle even want more midfield additions with Gallagher on Eddie Howe’s wish list.
Gallagher is thought to be a long-term target for Newcastle having been the subject of Magpies enquiries in each of the last two transfer windows.
The signing of Tonali isn’t temping Newcastle away from Gallagher, no doubt seeing him as more of a goal threat in a box-to-box role.
Newcastle seemingly won’t be splashing the cash though, hence their hope that Chelsea will loan Gallagher out yet again this summer.
That seems unlikely unless there is a permanent option included, with the Blues maybe viewing Newcastle as a rival moving forward.

Tottenham Hotspur could battle Newcastle for Conor Gallagher
Newcastle looked to be the favourites to sign James Maddison for a while, but he ended up at Tottenham Hotspur instead.
Spurs won the race to sign Maddison last week, snapping up the Leicester City playmaker in a £40million deal.
Spurs could now battle Newcastle once again, this time for the signature of Chelsea ace Gallagher.

Football London reported in June that Spurs had emerged as a legitimate contender to sign Gallagher.
Rodrigo Bentancur is out injured and Spurs may need somebody with Gallagher’s box-to-box qualities alongside the playmaking of Maddison.
Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp may battle for the holding role with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg potentially moving on, bringing in cash for somebody like Gallagher.
Chelsea may not fancy dealing with Tottenham either though, leaving Gallagher’s future completely up in the air as Newcastle lurk.
