Newcastle are now interested in signing Cade Cowell as some of Europe’s elite sides monitor the San Jose Earthquakes wonderkid.
What’s the story?
Well – according to 90min – Newcastle face competition from Bayern Munich, Juventus and AC Milan in the race to sign the American.
Cowell – who has already won two caps for the United States – has emerged as one of the biggest talents in Major League Soccer at the age of just 19.
90min believe AC Milan and Juventus lead the race to sign the teenager, with Newcastle and Bayern Munich only expressing an interest in the California-born prospect at this stage.
Cowell scored five goals – while also providing three assists – for the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2021/22 campaign.
In total, the Newcastle target has scored 11 goals in 87 appearances for the San Jose Earthquakes, setting up a further nine goals for his teammates as well.

90min do not mention a price tag, although the San Jose Earthquakes No.44 is not expected to be cheap.
Cowell’s current contract runs until June 2026, while the MLS side have an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
Therefore, the American outfit find themselves in a strong negotiating position.
Newcastle can land Almiron 2.0 in Cowell
Newcastle do not tend to dip into the MLS market for reinforcements, with Miguel Almiron their only recruit from that region of the globe in recent memory.
The Paraguay international was signed in a then club-record £20m deal from Atalanta United in January 2019.
Therefore, comparisons to Almiron will certainly be made if Newcastle win the race to sign Cowell.
If that is to happen, however, the Magpies will need to fend off some of the biggest clubs on the planet.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as anything could happen in the summer transfer window.
