Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Premier League rivals Brentford in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
Newcastle United eye Brentford striker Ivan Toney
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Newcastle are considering a bid for the English striker.
The Magpies have been priced out of moves for a number of striker targets and are now looking to bring back someone they sold in 2018.
The Sun have added that Brentford could sell Toney for an offer of over £30 million.

Impressive striker
Ivan Toney was on the books of Newcastle from 2015 until 2018 before he was sold to Peterborough United.
The English striker struggled to make an impact in the Newcastle first team and was sent out on loan to Barnsley and Wigan Athletic among other clubs.
Toney did well for Peterborough and earned the move to Brentford in the summer of 2020.
The 26-year-old scored 12 goals and gave five assists in 32 Premier League starts for the Bees last season.
The striker scored 33 goals and gave 10 assists in 47 Championship starts for Brentford in 2020-21.
Newcastle left-back Matt Targett is well aware of the threat that Toney posses, describing him as a striker who is “a handful on his day” on NUFC TV in February 2022.
