Newcastle United have snapped up goalkeeper Jake Turner.
Newcastle United confirmed two new signings today, announcing that goalkeeper Jake Turner and midfielder Kyle Scott have both joined the club.
Scott arrives having come through the Chelsea academy, and he’ll be looking for first-team football having failed to really break through at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Turner left Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season following their relegation to League One, with the Trotters allowing him to go.
The 20-year-old shot-stopper failed to make a first-team appearance for Bolton but does have one cap for the England Under-19’s to his name.
Turner will seemingly serve as a reserve team goalkeeper, and his arrival as a young goalkeeper for the future may just allow Freddie Woodman to go out on loan.
What’s interesting is that Newcastle have managed to get Turner on a free transfer, when he was rated as a multi-million pound goalkeeper last year.
The Sun reported in January 2018 that Everton and Manchester United both wanted Turner, but Bolton were demanding a huge £4million for the youngster.
Newcastle will surely feel great about that, believing they’ve landed themselves a bargain for the future without having to pay the massive price quoted 18 months ago.
