Numerous clubs are reportedly looking to sign Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita even if the African is willing to pen a new Anfield deal – and Newcastle have got to be in the mix for the Guinea star in the coming weeks and months.
Keita, 27, is out of contract next summer. His time at Liverpool has been hit and miss. Going through some spells of good form, the midfielder has also endured bouts of struggling for game time – and of course, a number of injuries.
Ultimately, the competition and the rotational nature of Jurgen Klopp’s squad have hindered Keita. He has been unable to nail down a place and that lack of momentum has surely contributed to his injuries, and tumultuous Liverpool form.
Just 117 appearances in four years, starting just 72 times and only scoring 11 goals. Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that he could sign a new deal if he is given assurances. But there are a number of clubs keen. He really needs to leave.

Newcastle have got to be in the mix for Liverpool star Keita
Keita needs to join a club where is first choice, but still given the freedom and authority to shine. At a club like Newcastle, he might get that opportunity. A club on the up, with every chance of qualifying for Europe this season.
A move to Tyneside would allow Keita to finally show fans that he can still produce top-tier form in the Premier League. He would have the stage, the manager, the system to shine. Newcastle need a midfielder that can score goals.
With Jonjo Shelvey injured and Bruno Guimaraes sitting deeper in midfield, they need a player to go alongside Joelinton. A report from CMW says that Newcastle are looking at a surprise move for Juventus ace Manuel Locatelli.
But with £53m Keita likely to be available on the cheap in January given his contract situation, Newcastle have got to consider a move for the £130,000-a-week star. Newcastle need a player like Keita, and Keita needs a club like the Toon.
