Newcastle United should consider a move for the reportedly available Tottenham Hotspur hitman.

Rafael Benitez Manager

Newcastle have made a woeful start to their 2018/19 Premier League campaign, and Rafa Benitez faces an incredibly tough task ahead of him, if he is to guide his side to a top 10 finish this season.

The Magpies currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League table, having taken just two points from their opening nine league outings, and they are staring relegation to the Championship in the face.

If Newcastle are to avoid the drop, Rafa quite simply must strengthen during the January transfer window, with the addition of an established centre-forward surely featuring at the very top of his wish-list.

With this in mind, the Spaniard should consider a January swoop for Tottenham hitman Vincent Janssen, who has reportedly been made available by Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Sun.

The 24-year-old joined Spurs from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £17 million, but he has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League.

That is not to say that he doesn’t have the ability to become a success, however.

Janssen was prolific during his time in Holland, and maybe a fresh start in the north east is just what he needs in order to reinvigorate his flagging career.

The Dutchman could be a real hit at St James’ Park, if he rediscovers his form of three years ago, and if Newcastle could pick him up for a bargain fee, he could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Toon.
