Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to become the new Newcastle United manager, according to The Chronicle.
What’s the story?
The Chronicle are reporting this morning that former Arsenal star Van Bronckhorst wants to take charge of Newcastle.
The report has claimed that the former Netherlands international was a candidate for the Newcastle managerial role when Steve Bruce took over from Rafael Benitez.
At the time, of course, Mike Ashley was the Newcastle owner.
The former Rangers ace was willing to work with the Englishman.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) have bought Newcastle now.

And it seems that Van Bronckhorst is still keen on making a move to St. James’ Park.
The report has added that the 46-year-old ‘worked closely with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City for a spell’.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst to Newcastle is unlikely
Van Bronckhorst was a brilliant player, and the former Barcelona man has done well as a manager so far in his career.
The Dutchman won the Eredivisie once with Feyenoord.
Van Bronckhorst also clinched the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruyff Shield twice each as a manager.

However, in our view, it is unlikely that Amanda Staveley and co. will be open to bringing in Van Bronckhorst.
The Mirror are reporting that Paulo Fonseca is set to become the new manager of Newcastle.
