Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden is a more defensive minded player, but is hoping to add another element to his game.
Former Hull City man Isaac Hayden wants to add goals to his game at Newcastle United
Newcastle United’s new recruit Isaac Hayden has spoken to the club’s official website about his target of improving his goalscoring record for this upcoming season.
The 21-year-old moved to St James’ Park from Arsenal earlier this month, with just one senior goal to his name, and he discussed how he hopes to improve in that area when speaking to nufc.co.uk:
Isaac Hayden spent time at Arsenal
“I think last season, I maybe should have got a few more. I’m confident enough in my ability to shoot from distance, to take shots on and try new things in the final third, but I think it’s something I can work on and certainly add to my game.”
It will be interesting to see where Magpies’ boss Rafa Benitez chooses to deploy Hayden over the course of the coming season. His greatest strength is arguably his versatility, and he is just as comfortable playing in a centre-back position as he is in the holding midfield role.

The ex-Gunner has always shown large amounts of potential, but his move to the North East will surely give him more of a chance to showcase his ability on a more regular basis. He will certainly be a useful addition, as Newcastle prepare for the war of attrition that is the Championship.
Hayden finished by saying how he hopes to help push the Geordies back to the Premier League:
“I want to hopefully add to the squad in a good way and push this Club back to where it belongs.”
