The Everton winger would be a useful addition to the Newcastle United squad.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has endured a challenging transfer window so far this summer, and his woes were compounded at St James’ Park on Sunday when his side were soundly beaten by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Whilst a move for Joselu has been agreed, the Spaniard’s search for a winger looks set to continue, with Chelsea unwilling to sanction Kenedy’s exit until Antonio Conte strengthens his squad, according to the Shields Gazette.

With this in mind, Newcastle should consider switching targets, and focus their search elsewhere, other than leave a possible deal for the Brazilian right up until the last minute.

And an interesting option for them could be Toffees winger Aaron Lennon, who faces an uncertain future on Merseyside, following a whole host of new arrivals at Goodison Park.

The 30-year-old winger is vastly experienced in playing at the very highest level, and despite losing half a yard of pace over the past year or so, he still has plenty to offer.

Lennon’s direct playing style would fit perfectly into Benitez’s system at Newcastle, and he would offer them an entirely different threat in the wide attacking areas.

The former Leeds United and Spurs man is renowned for hugging the touchline and whipping potent deliveries into the box, which would offer the Toon a more potent feel to their attacking play.

Lennon has just 11 months remaining on his current deal with Everton, so he shouldn’t prove to be too costly, and Rafa should not hesitate to bring the winger to St James’ Park this summer.
