Newcastle and Liverpool have now received a boost in their respective pursuits of RB Leipzig maestro Amadou Haidara.
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Chronicle – RB Leipzig are expecting to lose their No.8 to a Premier League side as Newcastle and Liverpool express interest.
Newcastle remain keen on signing the Mali international after failing with a move in 2022.
In regards to Liverpool, it is said that the Reds have sent scouts to watch Haidara in action for RB Leipzig this season as they attempt to overhaul their midfield department this summer.
The 25-year-old has previously spoken about his love for the Premier League, and the Chronicle believe that is where he is heading at the end of the season.
Haidara said: “The matches in the Premier League are very intense. It’s always a good game, no matter which club plays. We’ll see what happens.”
Brighton are also interested in the Malian.
In fact – according to the Independent – the Seagulls had a bid rejected for Haidara in January as they began to prepare themselves for the prospect of losing Moises Caicedo, who Arsenal had a £70m bid rejected for.
In that respect, it could be argued that Haidara and Caicedo are similar players.
So far this season, the Newcastle and Liverpool target has made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals while also providing two assists.
Newcastle & Liverpool could have a Haidara problem
In truth, both Newcastle and Liverpool could miss out on Haidara.
The Chronicle believe Manchester United are also interested, and the Malian is a huge fan of the Red Devils.
Therefore, if Erik ten Hag comes in with an offer for Haidara, it has the potential to turn his head away from the prospect of joining Newcastle or Liverpool.
